Who we are

Himalayan Health and Environmental Services Solukhumbu (HHESS) is a national, non-governmental and non-profit organization legally registered at District Administration Office, Solukhumbu on August 30, 1994. HHESS is also affiliated with the Social Welfare Council, Nepal since December 26, 1994.

HHESS was established as a charitable organization dedicated to unconditional help for the underprivileged and the rural poor regardless of their faith, origin and gender. We are active in the field of health, education, conservation, environment preservation etc. Our work focuses on tackling health inequalities and the empowerment of marginalized communities to shape their own future. We achieve this by working with communities in partnership with the government and other agencies to improve health care, education, and by providing socioeconomic opportunities for families. Lately, we have begun working in the health and nutrition sector with a focus to help reduce maternal and child malnutrition in Nepal. We have executed different programs in more than 15 districts in mountain, hill and terai regions of Nepal.

What we do
hhess
HHESS is guided by its organizational commitments to help raise awareness of health & nutrition, environment & climate change, basic education and improvement of rural infrastructures through measures, such as capacity building of the underprivileged living in remote areas of Nepal

HHESS facilitates individuals, families and communities at large by providing specialized services in the field of health by organizing surgical health camps through a pool of experienced doctors, public health professionals, nutritionists and trained clinicians. We use a bottom-up approach that puts the needs of the community at the centre. In the process we help reinforce government mechanisms existing at all levels under various ministerial agencies, particularly the Ministry of Health and Population as of now. Our major activities are implemented with the support from donor agencies such as the UN agencies, INGOs and individual donors who have been massive hold up to the organization since its inception.
